Wish I had Mission Control to call.
So...
...you know how I installed knobs on my freshly-painted cabinets?
A day after the knob install, I'm putting a few dishes in the dishwasher.
A knob blocks the path for opening the dishwasher.
Crap!
Didn't notice or consider that when I was putting on the knobs.
There's not enough room to wiggle and move to make it work:
I've worked with it a few days. I can reach all the way to the back. I've unloaded and started to load up again since the discovery. It's not exactly convenient, but it's still workable.
This concludes my question on whether to install the drawer handles. NO WAY. If I put a drawer handle in this spot, the dishwasher door would only open a couple inches.
This is NOT good for re-sale. No plans to move or sell - I'm just sayin'...

Can't you counter sink that particular knob? Drill a hole the diameter of it, a tad larger actually, as deep as you need for clearance to open the dishwasher door?
Just a thought that came to me.

Oh Fudge, just when everythings was going smooth, life throws in another curve. Bummer!...the kitchen looks Beautiful...but crawling into your dishwasher will get old..(Calling all carpenters, who has a quick fix?). You have worked so hard, sorry you must deal with this problem.
Oh bummer. How did you open the doors and drawers before the knobs? I wonder if you could just get those two knobs cut down enough for the DW to clear them. It looks like they are just a tiny bit too big.
I had a half-inch clearance between the cabs and dishwasher door. Unfortunately, the installed knob extends beyond the dishwasher door by another half inch. I'd have to counter-sink the knob by a minimum 3/4 inch.
Good news is after a week & extra cooking/dishes than normal...I can load & unload just fine. I think the situation looks and seems worse than it really is. I'll go with what I have and not fret over it.
Marti...before the knobs, I just held the corners to open. The drawers have a hidden spot to hold & pull out from underneath...like a built-in secret handle.
We just had a dishwasher built in in March, when we had our kitchen remodeled. We love it, but when it is open, there are only about 10 inches to stand to put the glasses, cups and dishes away. If someone was big, they would have trouble. I sometimes have to stand on one foot.
When we did the remodeling, I was thinking about having two different kinds of knobs. If you get tired of the way it is, and get some money saved up, I wonder if it would look OK in your kitchen to have knobs that don't stick out as far on the lower cupboards, and maybe even the drawers if you decide you want them. You could also get more than one other kind, and go for different veggies, flowers, fruits, or even kitchen themed ones. It would look on purpose and not because there was a problem with the other ones.
Hey, you could even just change out that one with a decorative one that doesn't stick out as far.
Gayle,
The cabinet people should have added a spacer of just an inch next to the dishwasher so you did not have a problem like this. I have seen worse, at least you can open the dishwasher.
